Farewell to a Friend and TV Science Superstar

I was  so shocked to hear the news of the death of TV presenter Michael Mosley, who died last week while taking a walk in Greece. Everyone at One Tribe TV sends their condolences to his family and friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Michael closely for around two years while in BBC Science, on the series “Inventions that Changed the World”.  At the time, he was still a TV executive producer and I was the series producer - it was back in the 00’s . Owen Gay, our creative director, worked with him when he first started presenting on The One Show.

Michael had a unique gift for being able to make science and health content accessible and interesting to a mainstream TV audience. This is such a rare gift, driven by his infectious and  genuine enthusiasm and energy for his craft. The last time I saw Michael was when we were walking down the red carpet at the BAFTAs in London having both arrived by tube. Michael was totally upstaged by the arrival of the Only Way is Essex cast in a stretch limo!  We both laughed as we sipped on the Tattinger before the awards started and talked about the influence of “reality” shows.

Michael’s  science shows really did make a difference to so many people and lives, and he will be sorely missed by so many in the industry as well as the TV audience.
